"Stay" - SafetySuit

Hello Fretlight Players - here is this week's FREE "Fretlight Video Riff"!

This week's Video features the intro section from the SafetySuit song "Stay". This is a great song that features 'layered' guitar parts, which means that there is a Rhythm guitar part (played with chords) as well as a Lead guitar part (played with scales) that are combined together. This type of playing is very common in bands that have two guitarists. This week's video includes both the Rhyhtm and Lead parts, which allows you to see and hear exactly how they fit together. Remember that you can SLOW DOWN the video and LOOP IT until you can play both parts up to speed.

"Walk This Way" - Aerosmith

Greetings Fretlight Owners - here is this week's FREE "Fretlight Video Riff"!

This week's Video features the intro riff from the classic Aerosmith song "Walk This Way". To master this riff, you really must focus on synchronizing the motions of the fretting hand and the picking hand. This means that you must pay close attention to the motion of your fingers as well as your pick. Remember that you can SLOW DOWN the video and LOOP IT until you can play it up to speed.

"Bubbly" - Colbie Caillat

Hello again Fretlight Owners - here is this week's FREE "Fretlight Video Riff"!

This week's Video features the chord progression from Colbie Caillat's hit song "Bubbly". This progression is played with fingerpicking technique, so put down the pick for this one. When practicing this example, you will notice that there is a combination of chord style fingerpicking (using multiple fingers at the same time to pluck the notes of a chord) as well as arpeggio style fingerpicking (using one finger at a time to pluck the individual strings). Remember that you can SLOW DOWN the video and LOOP IT to really nail these techniques.
